3 reasons why you should have Siberian Ginseng in your home

In the words of my mentor, Dr Robert Morse: “There are only two sides to chemistry, alkaline or acidic. Acidic is where all the symptoms called diseases appear.”

When I heard these words for the first time, it was like the sky had opened and I could see the stars for the very first time! It made so much sense! Having suffered from adrenal fatigue (exhaustion in fact), I felt quite isolated. Allopathic medicine was not helping, as doctors did not have an answer for me, and told me it was just in my head. But I knew something was severely off. My thyroid function was slightly sluggish but also not enough for a diagnosis, and the rest of the blood works were “within range”, but I knew my metabolism was off, plus I was getting sick all the time, indicating that my immune system was suffering too.

If you like me, are hitting a wall with modern medicine and your doctor is playing the “blame game” telling you, you may have hypochondriac tendencies, then this blog post might help! You are not alone and you are not crazy!

If you wake up exhausted, hit a wall at 2pm, cannot sleep even if you are really tired, feel sluggish, are struggling with digestion, are gaining weight around your mid-section and have no energy to do simple tasks, then your lymphatic system is congested and your kidneys and adrenals are affected badly.

Sound complex and worse than it really is, but with naturopathic medicine, things can easily get better: they did for me.

There is so silver bullet to health, so clearly, to see improvement and healing, all angles must be considered: diet and lifestyle, detoxification, to create alkalinity in the body and start moving lymph through the kidneys[1] and taking the right herbs!  When it comes to adrenal and pituitary health (which dictates Thyroid health too), adaptogens are wonderful and truly work magic!  Among these herbs, Siberian Ginseng! Despite its name, it is actually not a ginseng as it does not contain ginsenosides. It is instead rich in eleutherosides, the active constituent that provides the adaptogenic effects of this herb.[2] Here 3 amazing effects and reasons why you should have Siberian Ginseng part of your “farmacy”

-       Siberian Ginseng helps you adapt to various forms of stress. Another way to describe how this adaptogen works is that it “normalizes” many of the body’s processes and helps keep the body in homeostasis. One way it does this, is by interacting with the HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis), which controls the release of many of hormones. One such hormone is cortisol, a primary “stress hormone” that also contributes to symptoms associated with aging. When cortisol levels rise, you experience the “fight or flight” response, which stimulates your sympathetic nervous system and your adrenal glands. People who experience fight-or-flight responses on a regular basis, many times a day, may experience a state of constant stress, which can put pressure on the adrenal glands, tax the digestive tract, and cause a number of issues like the ones previously mentioned. Siberian Ginseng can support the adrenals in buffering against the harmful effects tied to stress and in the process make us feel more resilient and overall healthier.

-       Siberian Ginseng demonstrates an ability to improve physical stamina and mental sharpness, similar to caffeine but without an impending crash or long half-life that may prevent you from sleeping well. Some studies have shown that this adaptogen has the ability to boost cardiorespiratory fitness, fat metabolism and overall endurance performance[3].

-       Eleuthero root benefits also include its proven ability to help fight viruses that cause the common cold as well as the flu.[4] It also has been found to be a great root to incorporate in oncology. Siberian ginseng’s inhibitory effects on malignant tumours, such as those in the lung and liver. Some experts believe that this plant may have strong potential to be developed as an effective anticancer drug.[5] Overall, this points out to the strong effects it has on the immune system, as a modulator.

This adaptogen is often overlooked and only looked at as s performance enhancer, but the performance is actually  systematic and it can truly transform one’s heath, especially when our hormones are involved and  major glands need support to work better. Whether you have been diagnosed with thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue or just want to have more health, this root is a must have in your cabinet as it will be a game changer for your health.

Note: Always consult your doctor if you are taking medication.
